We are thrilled to celebrate the achievements of Daniel Parker, Oliver Sweeney, and Davina Patel, who have all recently obtained their degrees in Quantity Surveying. Balancing university studies with work is not easy, and their hard work and dedication have truly paid off!
When asked how they found the experience of managing university life while working, here’s what they had to say:
“My time at university was both challenging and rewarding. Balancing work and studies was tough, but it taught me better time management. Through hands-on learning and real-world application, I discovered a true passion for the industry, realising that I genuinely enjoy it. My favourite university module was Quantity Surveying in Practice. I received and responded to emails and letters from architects and clients.”
Daniel Parker graduated from Anglia Ruskin University
“I am deeply grateful to MESH for supporting me through my degree whilst working. My degree provided essential theoretical and textbook knowledge, which is crucial for technical understanding, especially when advising clients. The four days I spent in the office, allowed me to have hands-on experience with various projects at different stages. This has been invaluable to my overall development and practical application of the role.
I highly recommend the degree apprenticeship route to anyone looking to begin a career in Quantity Surveying.”
Oliver Sweeney graduated from University College of Estate Management (UCEM)
“My degree in Quantity Surveying has equipped me with skills in cost estimation, contract management, and sustainability, helping me to manage project budgets, timelines, and stakeholder relationships effectively while helping the environment. It also enhanced my value engineering, and negotiating abilities, making me efficient when delivering successful projects.
Going to university was a great experience and definitely aided my role at MESH. I can now utilise the theory that I know and put it into practice.”
